Listening to Intuition: The Story Behind the Birth of the Lifelong Wellbeing Foundation
Intuition is a strange thing, isn’t it? The way it guides us without always revealing the destination. And as I sit here today, reflecting on how the Lifelong Wellbeing Foundation came to be, I realize that every step has been led by that quiet voice within. Hindsight, after all, is always 20/20.
Back in July 2024, I headed to the Biohacking Summit in Helsinki with one goal: to listen. I’ve spoken at plenty of biohacking conferences before, but this time, I wanted to be fully present, not distracted by the pressures of speaking or threading the message of others’ presentations into social or classroom content. I entered the conference in tune with the weekly focus words I’d been using in my accountability groups: words like listen, present, ease, and intuition.
A few weeks earlier, I had made a purposeful shift in the language I was using in my business. I began using the term wellbeing instead of wellness. For me, "wellbeing" captures something deeper. It's not just about individual health but creating a culture of care within organizations. A culture that weaves organizational effectiveness and wellbeing together to reduce dysfunction and create spaces where people thrive.
The Moment That Changed Everything
So, as I arrived in Helsinki, I thought I was there to listen. I wanted to understand the pain points biohacking companies were facing. I believed my Accountability Programs could offer them the structure and support they needed to grow and scale. I was targeting them as clients. But what I didn’t realize was that I was about to be introduced to a much larger mission.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I wasn’t just there to listen to others—
I was there to hear my own intuition loud and clear.
On day one, during lunch, I heard myself say, “Ask him if he needs a seat.” A man was walking by my small table, and I invited him to sit down. His name was Nick Zaldastani, someone I had never met. Nick shared his passion for education, his desire to help young people access the biohacking community, and his vision for creating a generation of individuals who were inspired to learn and share about health and longevity.
As I listened, I was transported back to my younger self. That 8th-grade Rebecca who was excited about participating in an International Ambassador Program—an opportunity I lost at the last minute. I’ve always dreamed of being an ambassador, learning from others and sharing knowledge between worlds. Sitting across from Nick, I felt that ambassadorial fire reignite in me. It was as if all the versions of myself who felt drawn to this type of work—8th-grade me, 19-year-old me, grad school me—were smiling.
The Birth of the Lifelong Wellbeing Foundation
Nick’s vision was compelling. He wanted to create a foundation to give young people access to the world of wellbeing. The thought of helping the next generation step into healthier, happier, longer lives sparked something deep within me. That night, I sat alone by the water, jotting down everything Nick had said and then using the tools I use with my clients when I first hear about their vision. I documented the “what,” the “why,” the “for who.” I knew that this was something I needed to be part of.
The next day, I bumped into Nick again and told him, “I wrote down some ideas about what you shared. I’ll email you after the Summit. If this is really what you want to do, I want to play.” That email went out shortly after, and within days, Nick and I were deep in discussions about how to make his vision a reality.
On September 13, 2024, the Lifelong Wellbeing Foundation was officially incorporated. Just five days later, at the Business of Biohacking Summit, Dave Asprey—“The Father of Biohacking”—announced the foundation publicly. Over the coming months, we’ll be building content around what wellbeing is, why it matters, and how young people can start making impactful changes now for their lifelong wellbeing and longevity.
A New Legacy Takes Shape
We’ll be partnering with colleges, universities, biohackers, and health professionals, and supporting the UN’s global initiatives for 2050. The goal? To create a generation of wellbeing doers—ambassadors of health and happiness for a better world. In the foundation’s Board of Directors, I’ll be acting as the Co-Founder and Chief of Programs.
I’m stepping into a role I’ve prepared for my whole life,
and I didn’t even realize it until I listened to what my intuition was telling me.
I’ve been asked, “What happens to Nimble Up/Peopleside?” The answer is simple. They are part of my DNA. But the Lifelong Wellbeing Foundation is my legacy project, the culmination of my passions for partnership, education, and wellbeing. I am a master at “double-dipping” my wellbeing dimensions, and this new venture aligns perfectly with my intellectual, social, and spiritual wellbeing dimensions.
The foundation was born out of intuition, listening, and the lessons life has taught me along the way. It’s my new baby. A baby that has two parents, a whole community of support, and the potential to change the way the world approaches health and wellbeing. And I can’t wait to see it grow.
Looking Ahead with Gratitude
As I look ahead, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for all that is to come and immense gratitude for the journey that has brought me here. Thank you, intuition. Thank you, life lessons. And thank you, passion, for leading me to a role I was meant to play.
With love,
Rebecca
